Registering an Email Server

Confirm the following before configuring the email server.

  • The printer is connected to the network

  • Setup information for email server

    When you are using an Internet based email server, check the setting information from the provider or website.

Note:

You can also send scanned images by email through Epson's cloud service, Epson Connect, without having to setup an email server. For more details, see the Scan to Cloud feature.

Access Web Config, then select the Network tab > Email Server > Basic.

You can also select settings on the printer's control panel. Select Settings > General Settings > Network Settings > Advanced > Email Server > Server Settings.

Authentication Method

Specify the authentication method for the printer to access the mail server.

For Microsoft Exchange Online users:

Due to enhanced security in Microsoft Exchange Online, the Basic Authentication method has been discontinued and SMTP authentication (SMTP AUTH) has been disabled by default. If you use the printer's email sending/notification function, you must the email server settings to use OAuth2 authentication.

You must also enable SMTP AUTH in Exchange Online.

Select when the mail server does not need authentication.

SMTP AUTH

Authenticates on the SMTP server (outgoing mail server) when sending the email. The mail server needs to support SMTP authentication.

POP before SMTP

Authenticates on the POP3 server (receiving mail server) before sending the email. When you select this option, configure the POP3 server.

OAuth2 (Web Config only)

Authenticates using OAuth2. When you select this option, configure the Email service.

Email service (Web Config only)

If you select OAuth2 as the Authentication Method, select an email service from the list. Click Sign In, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Authenticated Account

If you select SMTP AUTH or POP before SMTP as the Authentication Method, enter an authenticated account name from 0 to 255 characters in ASCII (0x20-0x7E).

If you select SMTP AUTH, enter the SMTP server account. If you select POP before SMTP, enter the POP3 server account.

Authenticated Password

If you select SMTP AUTH or POP before SMTP as the Authentication Method, enter an authenticated password from 0 to 70 characters in ASCII (0x20-0x7E).

If you select SMTP AUTH, enter the password for the SMTP server. If you select POP before SMTP, enter the password for the POP3 server.

Sender's Email Address

Enter the sender's email address (such as the email address of the system administrator). This is used when authenticating, so enter a valid email address that is registered to the mail server.

Enter from 0 to 255 characters in ASCII (0x20-0x7E) other than : ( ) < > [ ] ; ¥. A period "." cannot be the first character.

SMTP Server Address

Enter from 0 to 255 characters using A-Z a-z 0-9 . - . You can use the IPv4 or FQDN format.

SMTP Server Port Number

Enter a number from 1 to 65535.

Secure Connection

Select the encryption method for the data sent to the mail server.

None

If you select POP before SMTP as the Authentication Method, the connection is not encrypted.

SSL/TLS

This is available when Authentication Method is set to Off or SMTP AUTH. Communication is encrypted from the start.

STARTTLS

This is available when Authentication Method is set to Off or SMTP AUTH. Communication is not encrypted from the start, but could be encrypted later depending on the network environment.

Certificate Validation (Web Config only)

The certificate is validated when this is enabled. We recommend this is set to Enable. To set up, you need to import the CA Certificate to the printer.

POP3 Server Address

If you select POP before SMTP as the Authentication Method, enter a POP3 server address from 0 to 255 characters using A-Z a-z 0-9 . - . You can use the IPv4 or FQDN format.

POP3 Server Port Number

If you select POP before SMTP as the Authentication Method, enter a number from 1 to 65535.
