Setting a Password Policy

You can increase password strength by defining rules for the character types and number of characters in the passwords.

  1. On a computer connected to the same network as the printer, open a browser and enter the printer's IP address.

    You can check the printer's IP address using the following menu.

    • Network connected to the printer's built-in LAN port
      Settings > General Settings > Network Settings ( > Standard) > Network Status > Wired LAN/Wi-Fi Status
    • Network connected to the Wireless LAN Interface-P1
      Settings > General Settings > Network Settings >Network Status > Wired LAN/Wi-Fi Status
  2. Enter the administrator password to log in as an administrator.

  3. Select the following menu.

    Product Security tab > Password Policy

  4. Change the settings as necessary.

    • Password Policy
      Select ON to enable Password Policy. When this is enabled, you can set the following items.
    • Minimum Password Length
      Set the minimum number of characters for the password.
    • Include Uppercase Alphabet
      When enabled, the password must contain one or more uppercase letters.
    • Include Lowercase Alphabet
      When enabled, the password must contain one or more lowercase letters.
    • Include Number
      When enabled, the password must contain one or more numbers.
    • Include Punctuation Mark
      When enabled, the password must contain one or more punctuation marks.
  5. Click OK.
