Placing Long Paper

Note:

Make sure there is enough space in front of the scanner for the ejected originals.

  1. Make sure that the scanner position icon is (straight path position).

If (vertical path position) is displayed, pull the scanner position selector to tilt the scanner back.

  2. Open the input tray.

  3. Raise the input tray extension.

  4. Move the edge guides to the edges of the input tray.

  5. Load the original into the input tray straight, facing up and with the top edge facing into the ADF.

Insert the paper into the ADF until it meets resistance.

When loading long paper, support it at the input side so that it does not drop out of the ADF, and the output side so that the ejected paper does not get jammed or fall from the output tray.

  6. Adjust the edge guides to fit the edges of the original so that there are no gaps. If there are any gaps, the original may be fed skewed.

    Note:
    • If the edge guides are too far apart or too tight, the original may not be fed correctly. The edge guides should be aligned so that they lightly touch the edges of the original.

    • Also, while scanning long paper, support both ends of the original with your hands to prevent it from tilting.

    • See the following for the maximum lengths depending on the situation.

      Maximum Length for Long Paper

    • You need to specify the paper size in the Epson Scan 2 window.

When you are using Epson ScanSmart, you can open the Epson Scan 2 screen by clicking the Settings button > Scanner Settings tab > Scan Settings.

There are three ways to specify the paper size in the Epson Scan 2 window.

If the paper length is 3,048.0 mm (120 inches) or less, you can select Auto Detect (Long Paper) to detect the size automatically.

If the paper length is more than 3,048.0 mm (120 inches), you need to select Customize and enter the size of the paper. If the paper length is 5,461.0 mm (215 inches) or less, you can use Detect paper length instead of entering the paper height. If the paper is longer than 5,461.0 mm (215 inches), you need to enter the width and height of the paper.
