Power Saving Settings During Inactivity

You can set up the time to shift to the power saving mode or to turn the power off when the printer’s control panel is not operated for a certain period of time. Set the time depending on your usage environment.

  1. On a computer connected to the same network as the printer, open a browser and enter the printer's IP address.

You can check the printer's IP address using the following menu.

    • Network connected to the printer's built-in LAN port
      Settings > General Settings > Network Settings ( > Standard) > Network Status > Wired LAN/Wi-Fi Status
    • Network connected to the Wireless LAN Interface-P1
Settings > General Settings > Network Settings >Network Status > Wired LAN/Wi-Fi Status
  2. Enter the administrator password to log in as an administrator.

  3. Select the following menu.

Device Management tab > Power Saving

  4. Set up the following items as necessary.

    • Sleep Timer
Enter the time to switch power saving mode when inactivity occurs.
    Note:

You can also set up from the printer’s control panel.

Settings > General Settings > Basic Settings > Sleep Timer

    • Power Off Timer or Power Off If Inactive
Select a time to automatically turn off the printer after it has been inactive for a specific time. When you are using the fax features, select None or Off.
    Note:

You can also set up from the printer’s control panel.

Settings > General Settings > Basic Settings > Power Off Timer or Power Off Settings

    • Power Off If Disconnected
Select this setting to turn the printer off after a specified period of time when no cables are connected to any of the interface ports, including the LINE port. This feature may not be available depending on your region.
For users in Europe, see the following website for the specified period of time.
    Note:

You can also set up from the printer’s control panel.

Settings > General Settings > Basic Settings > Power Off Settings >Power Off If Disconnected

    • Energy Saving Priority Mode
Reduces power consumption even further than standard sleep mode. (The default setting is Off.)
      Note:
      • You can also set up from the printer’s control panel.

Settings > General Settings > Basic Settings > Energy Saving Priority Mode

      • After entering sleep mode, the control panel display and all LEDs turn off. During job execution, the LED turns on.

      • Pressing the power button during sleep mode wakes the printer (the display and LEDs return to their original brightness). The recovery time is slightly longer than when Energy Saving Priority Mode is set to Off

      • Scanning from a computer or smartphone during sleep mode may fail.

      • When this setting is enabled and the printer is in sleep mode, setting up the printer driver via a USB connection may take longer than usual.

  5. Click OK.
