You can adjust the appearance of the scanned image or text by increasing the resolution or adjusting the image quality.
Change the resolution, and then scan again.
Set the appropriate resolution for the purpose of your scanned image.
Control panel: Select the appropriate resolution in Resolution from Scan Settings.
Epson ScanSmart: On the Epson ScanSmart, Review Scans, or Select Action screen, click Settings > Scanner Settings tab > Scan Settings button, select the Main Settings tab on the Epson Scan 2 screen displayed, and then set the Resolution.
Check that Text Enhancement is selected.
Control panel: Enable Text Enhancement in Scan Settings.
Epson ScanSmart: On the Epson ScanSmart, Review Scans, or Select Action screen, click Settings > Scanner Settings tab > Scan Settings button, select the Advanced Settings tab on the Epson Scan 2 screen displayed, and then enable Text Enhancement.
When you select Black & White as the Image Type, depending on the condition of the scanned image, click Settings and adjust the slider for Emphasize light letters / Remove background, turn off Remove spot noise, or set the level to Low.
If you are scanning in JPEG format, try changing the compression level.
Epson ScanSmart: On the Epson ScanSmart, Review Scans, or Select Action screen, click Settings, and then click the Save Settings tab > Options button.
