Installing Ink Cartridges

1 Open the scanner unit.

Note:

Do not touch the white cable inside the printer.

2 Gently shake only the BLACK cartridge four or five times. Do not shake the other cartridges. Remove all ink cartridges from their packages.

Note:

For the initial setup, make sure you use the ink cartridges that came with this printer. These cartridges cannot be saved for later use.
Do not touch the sections shown in the illustration of the cartridge.

3 Remove only the yellow tape from the cartridges.

4 Insert the ink cartridge and press it down firmly. Repeat this step to insert all ink cartridges.

Note:

Make sure all the cartridges are aligned.

5 Close the scanner unit slowly.

6 Press the button on the printer to start charging the ink. Go straight to the next step. It is not necessary to wait for the ink to finish charging.

If the

light stays on and ink charging does not start, press the

button. Then remove and reinsert the ink cartridges.

Note:

Do not turn off the printer until ink charging is finished. The power light flashes while ink charging, and it stays on when finished.
The initial ink cartridges will be partly used to charge the print head. These cartridges may print fewer pages compared to subsequent ink cartridges.
