The Browse function is useful in the following situations.
By simply entering the computer’s device name or IP address, User Name, and Password, you can navigate through shared folders to select a save location, without the need to manually input the folder path.
When editing a destination already registered in the contacts, you can use the Browse function to verify the connection after updating the password or other settings, allowing you to check the operation without sending a scan.
This function is available when selecting Network Folder (SMB) as the Communication Mode during direct input of the save location or when registering/editing a contact entry.
On the destination settings screen for network folders, enter the following items:
Location: The device name or IP address of the computer where the network folder was created
User Name: The user name used to log in (sign in) to the destination computer
Password: The password corresponding to the user name
Tap Browse in the Location field to search for network folders.
Folders shared on the referenced computer will be displayed.
If a "Communication Error" occurs, the device name or IP address may be incorrect, or there may be an issue on the computer side. Please check the settings and try again.
If a "Authentication Error" occurs, the connection to the computer has been established, but the user name or password is incorrect. Please verify and try again.
Select the desired network folder and tap OK.
You will return to the destination settings screen, and the folder path will appear in the Location field.
Depending on the network configuration, you may be able to tap Browse to search for folders even if the Location, User Name, and Password fields are left blank.
If you tap Browse when the Location, User Name, and Password fields are left blank, the Windows network discovery feature will display folders shared on the network to which the printer is connected. Shared printers may also appear, but they cannot be selected as save folders.
If Windows network discovery is disabled or the network folder is on a Mac OS system, shared folders will not be displayed if the Location, User Name, and Password fields are left blank.
