Checking Error Messages on the Control Panel

If an error message is displayed on the control panel, follow the on-screen instructions or the solutions below to solve the problem.

Feeding stopped to protect the original. Remove the original, and then open and close the ADF cover.

Remove the original from the ADF and check the condition of the original.

Check the following if a computer is not found. - Connection between the scanner and the computer (USB or network) - Installation of a necessary application - Application version - Power supply to the computer - Firewall and security software settings - Group settings of a scanner and Document Capture Pro - Execution of re-searching For details, see your documentation.

  • Make sure the scanner is connected to your computer properly.

  • Install the latest versions of Epson Scan 2 and Document Capture Pro (or Document Capture) on your computer.

  • Make sure that the computer is turned on.

  • Check the firewall settings in the Epson software.

  • If you are using Windows, make sure the computer and scanner are set to the same group number in Document Capture Pro.

  • When you have completed the previous suggestions, search for the computer again.

Inside the scanner may have some stains. Clean it.

Cleaning the ADF

When cleaning is complete, reload the original in the ADF.

If the problem continues to occur after you have performed cleaning, contact Epson support (U.S., Canada, and Latin America) or your dealer (other regions).

The original may be smeared or inside the scanner may have some stains. Remove smears on the original, and then clean inside the scanner.

Invalid entry. Check the address.

Enter the correct IP address or default gateway. Contact the person who setup the network for assistance.

Recovery Mode

The scanner has started in recovery mode because a firmware update failed. Follow the steps below to retry the firmware update.

1. Connect the computer and the scanner with a USB cable. (During recovery mode, you cannot update the firmware over a network connection.)

2. Visit your local Epson website to download and run the firmware updater utility.
