Internet Fax is a feature that sends and receives faxes using an internet connection instead of a telephone line.
Data scanned on this product can be sent as an email attachment, or received from a recipient fax device that has Internet Fax functionality. Because a telephone line is not used, faxes can be sent at high speed without concerns about communication costs.
However, high-speed transmission is only guaranteed as far as the nearest email server. Depending on subsequent communication conditions and the timing at which the recipient fax device receives or retrieves the data, it may take some time before the fax is output on the recipient device.
For urgent fax communications, we recommend using direct transmission without going through an email server, or using IP fax or standard telephone line fax.
In addition, as internet-based communications are generally less secure, we recommend using telephone line fax transmission for important documents.
