Notes of Real-time Commands

  • If parameter of a normal command contains the data string that is the same as a Real-time command, the data will be also processed as the Real-time command.
  • Real-time commands must not break into code string of another command. The interruption would cause unexpected print result because the real-time command is also processed as a part of the other command.
  • If you want to repeat Real-time commands that reply data such as status, you should send the next command after received the response. If such Real-time commands are sent continuously, replies from the printer might not be the same order of the sent commands.
  • There are some printer states that the printer cannot execute Real-time commands, as follows. In that cases, execution of Real-time commands will delay from the command reception.
    • during sending block data (Header – NUL)
    • during sending ASB status
    • in process of the other Real-time command
    • during writing or erasing NV memory
    • in BUSY state of parallel interface
  • Real-time commands are executed even if the printer is disabled by ESC =.
  • It is recommended to disable this function with GS ( D as it ispossible that data such as graphics or downloaded text might accidentally include a data string corresponding to this function.(The default for GS ( D of this function is "Enabled".)
